Day of Caring
On Wednesday, August 19th, HSBC bank in conjunction with the United Way and the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy took part in the National Day of Caring. Approximately 125 volunteers helped to remove hundreds of invasive European Buckthorn trees in South Park. All About Roses
All about Roses!
is a FREE weekly workshop about how to grow and care for roses. Hosted by the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy under the direction of Rosarian David Swanka.
By any other name…
A rose is a perennial flowering shrub or vine of the genus Rosa, within the family Rosaceae. There are over one hundred species within this family and the flowers come in a multitude of shapes, colors and scents.
The Historic Rose Garden adjacent to the Marcy Casino has an extensive collection of roses from all over the world. Built in 1919 the Delaware Park Rose Garden has been the scene for hundreds of weddings and thousands of meetings. Prize winning rose varieties are prominently displayed in a formal planting framed by a classic architectural pergola.
If you would like to learn about roses, their care, cultivation and how to create your own rose beds at home the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy’s All About Roses! Workshop will provide you with professional rose care training within our historic rose garden.
